Christmas #2

On Friday night, my grandparents came in town to have Christmas with us. They both were pretty sick around the time Henry was born, so it was extra special to have them with us, healthy and full of spunk.

Christmas Day

Christmas Day has always been spent at my mom's house.

Brunch

This was the best food year ever! We had our traditional items- cheese grits and sausage balls, and introduced some new food- yummy ham sandwiches (Kristen, they were a hit!), a pumpkin roll, and a strawberry pretzel jello salad (which didn't turn out exactly right, but still tasted good), as well as a fried turkey, banana bread, crawfish bread, a green salad, and more!

Opening Gifts

Henry got lots of books!

My brother is in charge of the Charmin brand and he got this great sweatshirt for Madeline.

We always play games on Christmas Day. This year's game- Catch Phrase... boys vs girls.

I think the girls won... we're better at communicating!

Henry all ready for bed after his first Christmas.... wearing PJs from his cousin and a hat made by M'Dear.

Christmas Morning

So excited about his 1st Christmas!
Opening his stocking. Got some bath toys.
And some stacking cups.

And some keys.

Santa putting together Henry's gift.

"Why, hello, Mr. Lion riding/walking toy!"

(This toy was actually from my parents, we got him a Radio Flyer wagon that was still in the box in the garage... Oops.)

Christmas Eve

Every year for Christmas Eve, we go over to my great aunt's house for a big feast.
Cousins
(Next year, we'll have 2 more cousins in the picture- both of my sisters are pregnant!)
(I know...the pic is fuzzy, but it was the only one where they were both looking)

The yummy cake!

We pop Christmas Crackers. Inside they have paper crowns, a toy, and a joke. Poor Tom- they never have crowns big enough for his enormous head!

My cousins

Most of the family... After dinner, we play Family Feud- one side of the table versus the other side. We also have several rounds of Bingo. To make it interesting, there are prizes... lotto tickets.
Unlike his daddy, Henry's hat was slightly too big for him.
Cousins-ready for bed!
Good night, Daddy!
Can you see the sugar plums??

Ugh...

Today I put Henry down for a nap. 5 mins later, I noticed that it sounded like he was having too much fun in his crib. I peeked in and this is what I saw. Ok... he can pull himself up now...glad he's developing. So I took the picture and then laid him back down.
So proud of himself!

10 mins after that:

15 mins later:

An hour after I put him down... started to get pretty fussy:

Finally, sleeping peacefully.

Christmas Tree Farm '08

Saturday, we trekked out to Terrell to cut down a tree for Tom's parents.

Ready to go on the hay ride to see the trees.

Looking for a winner

Nothing like the perfect Christmas tree to bring out the love!

Thomas and Ella were testing it out- pretending to be ornaments.

Henry-sized trees

For the past several years, we've gone to this fine Terrell establishment after we've gotten the tree. We almost past it by, as it has changed it's name since we were last there. Different name, same food...as my mom would say, "It's warm and fills the stomach."
