Margaret Gray's Birthday Party

We had a little snowgirl party to celebrate Margaret's 1st Birthday.
On Saturday night (a few weeks ago), we had family and a few friends come over.

Winter treats table
Snowflake cookies, Carrot nose cupcakes, Oreo snowballs, and S'mores

I found these cards on Etsy and fell in love with the little snowgirl.
Lucky for me, I've got my friend Amy who can create anything I ask.
Her talent came in handy for the invites and the cake topper.
Circuts are the best- thanks, Amy!

Fortunately, we had great weather.

Monthly pics hung on a tree

Party favors- everyone needs tissue!

Papa helped the birthday girl get ready for the party.... if only I had this on video!

Sweet godchild, Charlie... sporting a scarf I "made".

I love how Henry just showed up... made for a cute family pic.

Awkward:)...

...But these grandparent pics couldn't be any sweeter!

Notice anything strange about this pic?

:)

It was a great party!
Thanks to all who helped... whether it was taking pictures, grating cheese, or driving 5 hours with a sick child- we are so blessed with family and friends who love our sweet Margaret Gray.

The next day, we had our small group over for lunch after church... we thought- why not keep the party going?? :)

Just moved everything inside... since it decided to snow.
That's Texas weather for you!

Henry's masterpiece

It was a relaxing lunch with our church friends and we appreciate them joining us to celebrate MG's 1st year of life.
(Too bad by the time everyone left, the snow had stopped)

That night, Margaret enjoyed playing with all her new gifts!

A girl can never have too many bows :)

(Henry was very concerned that the cake was getting destroyed:) )

Memory Monday

When your words came, I ate them;
they were my joy and my heart's delight,
for I bear your name,
O Lord God Almighty."
Jeremiah 15:16
side note-
just bought a new router... i'm about to be a blogging fool... as soon as i figure out how to set it up.

Memory Monday

A couple of weeks ago, my mom sent me this link to John Piper's sermon on the value of memorizing scripture.
We were both amazed how he spends the first 12(ish) minutes reciting scripture.
Well, I said to my mom, "Ok. Mom. Our turn."
Her response, "Great idea. Can we start off with a short one?" :)

So our journey to hide God's words in our hearts begins.
I'm thinking we'll choose a different verse (s) weekly.
Also thinking we'll take turns picking the scripture.

I'm starting with this one from Isaiah:
"Now, O Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all kingdoms on earth may know that you alone, O Lord, are God."
Isaiah 37:20

Now, I don't think I'll always give the reason why we pick certain verses, but since this is the 1st one, I'll explain.
I came across this verse last week in my BSF study.
King Hezekiah was asking God to deliver Jerusalem from Assyria... I love it- not to save himself from harm, but so that all kingdoms may know that his God was the one true God.
(feel free to read all of chapter 37... and to spoil the story for you- the Assyrian army never laid a finger on Jerusalem)
Our Bible study notes say:
Hezekiah understands that the greatest good is the revealing and honoring of God Himself and he sees his struggle as part of that purpose.

I'm hoping by having this scripture in my heart, I'll remember that God uses all things for His plan and that our purpose is to bring glory and honor to Him, who is worthy of our praise.

Margaret's 1st Haircut

The Sunday before Margaret's birthday, Henry and I took her to get her haircut.
Since it was on a Sunday, we went to the only close, open, kids' place... If you just glanced at the place, it seemed pretty orderly. But I made the mistake of looking too close at the train table and lego table- disgusting.
Made me miss the barber Henry went to for his first haircut.
Margaret's hair isn't that cooperative. I figured cutting off the baby hair would help control the frizz. :)

Getting ready!

I totally didn't come prepared.
Luckily they had DumDums to keep her occupied.

"How does it look in the back, brother?"

The "stylist" put some styling foam in her hair and looked at me like I was a bad mother for not buying it. Sorry I don't want my 1 year old to smell like a pre-teen.

She did look pretty sweet, if I say so.

The haircut was a success and luckily she didn't catch any diseases while taking this picture :)
