Cay-cation...

... as Henry would call it.

Last week, we went on our 1st family vacation to the Hill Country.
Car packed up and ready to go!
The kids were so excited... ha.

Our first stop was in Taylor, Texas at this BBQ place. We had seen it featured on Food Network and were glad we stopped by!

Unfortunately, the napkin was the only thing Margaret got to eat.
The food was delicious!

Then we reached our destination:

Right outside of Wimberley, Texas.

After unloading the car, we checked out the Blanco River.

Later that evening:

It was a long day :)

Day 2
We headed out that morning to climb Mt. Baldy.

Made it to the top!

What we get for breaking the "no food" rule.

Craziness around the house:

Then more swimming.

After dinner, we told Henry we were going to get some pie from a local pie shop.
Unfortunately, it had closed for the day.
To avoid a melt down and to satisfy our sweet cravings,
we headed to the grocery store to let Henry pick out some cookies from the bakery.
You do what you got to do.

We wanted to eat the cookies by the creek that runs through Wimberley.
Somehow we had a little trouble getting to the area where we wanted to be.

But found this cool tree along the way.

Finally...dessert.

Love this pic!

Back at the house.

Day 3
More swimming

Hated that my lens fogged up!

Tom and Henry made up a game that kept Henry focused on practicing his swimming "skills".
Tom would throw Henry's rubber dinosaur up the river.
Henry would jump to Tom.

Then Henry would "swim" out to get the dinosaur and back.
Every now and then, Henry would put his face in the water.
(This is a HUGE improvement from the beginning of the summer!)

Margaret Gray got her tan on.

Henry and Tom walked up the river then floated back down.

Henry loved walking under this "bridge" every time we walked to and from the river.
Loved how he would always duck to go "under" it even though it was well above his head.

That night we made chicken tacos.
Margaret got her 1st taste of avocado.

She actually liked it :)

Day 4
Traveled home
We stopped off at a local olive farm and winery.
And then, at a restaurant in Salado for lunch... which proved to be an strange experience... weird food.. but it did provide a good laugh for Tom and me.
After surviving the last hour of the drive, where both kids cried... loudly, we made it back home.
It was a great 1st family vacation.
I look forward to many, many more!!!

Margaret Gray- 6 months

This month has brought many changes.

She's begun to sit pretty well on her own.

Margaret also enjoys standing while holding on to something.

She's begun to rock forward... getting ready to crawl.
I have mixed emotions about that... kinda hoping that she'll crawl later rather than sooner :)

Margaret's a mover and a shaker... a squeaker and a squealer!

She went through a period this month where she was done with playing on her tummy and back. Since she's started to sit up, she's much happier.

Two little teeth also appeared this month.

The last couple of weeks she's slept until at least 7 ... I'm hoping this stays!

Eating is going better since I started serving the cereal really warm... Margaret will also take a bottle now (and will hold it herself)- found out that she prefers that warm, too. (duh!)

Outtakes

(Tom was there to catch her)

Wants to chew on anything and everything

Also grabs at everything

"Can someone help me, please?!?!"

Can't believe our little sunshine is half of a year old!
