Simon- 11 months

Henry and MG wanted in on the monthly photo action.
I guess Henry was demonstrating cutting finger nails...

Biggest change this month- WALKING!

I think this little guy has finally figured out life this month.
He's gotten so much more flexible.
Goes to bed between 6:45-7. Sleeps until 6:30-7.
Crazy thing is that the time change didn't bother him that much.
Naps around 9 and 1. Lasts between 1-2 hours.

As long as he's fed and rested, pretty content walking around the house and playing.

Can eat a cow. Really likes meat. Went through a picky thing, but is back to eating like crazy.

He and Henry can get rolling, laughing about the silliest things (ie- making loud noises, banging their heads). He can also get pretty mad when Henry won't give him what he wants.
Margaret likes to baby him.

Had his real 1st illness this month. Stomach trouble.

When he is doing something he knows he is not supposed to be doing (ie- open certain kitchen cabinets) he shakes his head and say "Nah". Stinker.

Hates being put in his car seat. Hates having his diaper changed.

Tom has added a nickname- Mr. S.

Words I think he is saying, but could be wrong :)
Hi
Doggie
Dada/ Daddy
Mama
All done
No
Uh oh

I feel like I didn't pick up the camera much this past month... but here are a few pictures of our guy from this month:
Giving Tom his opinion on this CT scan.

 His hugs are the best!
Gives good kisses too.
Reading the Bible on his changing pad in the middle of the hallway.

The climbing has begun.

 And chewing on markers.

Playing the sand table.

This video was taken at the beginning of his 11th month... was getting confident with his steps.

Now he walks around everywhere.

The kid has lots of bruises already.

ONE MORE MONTH!!!
Oh my.

Pow Wow

Last week,  the 4 year olds at Henry's school had a Pow Wow.

I was curious to see how Henry would act, considering he was a wreck at last year's Spring PE performance.

He exceeded my expectations.... thank goodness.

Chewing on his bracelet... kids still chews on everything!

Chihuly Nights

This picture was not from the Arboretum, but I thought I would include it because I like the guy in the picture and I think we look nice :)  ....
we were going to my cousin's engagement party in Shreveport.

 Anyhoo...
Tom and I went to Chihuly Nights at the Arboretum.

Ate dinner out there. Should have brought our own food and had a picnic since the food we got was "eh".

It was a beautiful night- good weather. Nice to be just the 2 of us.

Afterwards, went to take Tom out for dessert at a place I had been with some girlfriends (MoMo's). Found out it was closed and relocated.
So we walked around and happened upon a little Italian restaurant. Only about 8 tables. No one there. But the stickers on the door told us it was Zagat Rated, so we went on in.
The way the owner sat in the corner and drank his cocktail reminded us of a gangster movie.
Ending up stuffing ourselves on calamari, crab cakes, and tiramisu.

Good times with Tom Louis.

Halloween 2012

The Monday before Halloween, I figured I needed to think about costumes for the kiddos. Henry and Margaret Gray had been giving me suggestions that I kindly ignored. Ha.
I was just sure my sister in law, Kate, would have some jewels in her costume closet :)
What in the world am I going to do when we move away?!?!

Found the purple dragon Henry wore for his 3rd Halloween. Presented it to MG, and she was excited about wearing it. We paired it with her purple tutu and TADA- a "happy girl dragon".

Drove over to Kate's and Henry was beyond thrilled to find the "scary dragon" that his cousin, Thomas, wore years ago when he was Maleficent.

See how happy they were?!?

Simon was going to be the duck Henry wore for his 2nd Halloween, but when I found this dog costume, I knew that's what he had to be... given his love for the canine folk.
(Wish he could have coordinated with the other 2 (knight, dragon breath, castle...) Tried putting Margaret's red tutu on his head to be the dragon's breath, but he wouldn't keep it on. )

Henry was trying to get Margaret to hug him for the picture, and when she didn't...
... it left him a little sad.
This kinda broke my heart. :(

 Better.
She was not in the mood for pictures.

Headed over to the Wood's for an early dinner

Bentons, us, Woods

Makes me sad when we do things like this.. our last ______.
Our last trick or treating with their cousins...

Simon wasn't so thrilled about trick or treating... wanted to be in bed.

Their buckets were pretty full... and that was before they went with Tom to PatPat and PawPaw's church's fall festival.
I took Simon home to put him to bed.

It was a great Halloween, even if I had my BRAND NEW boots stolen from our car and candy bucket stolen from our front porch... what is this world coming to??

MN- Last Day- Apple Orchard

I know, I took a lot of pictures while we were in Minnesota.
This is the last post :)

We started our last day right- with Rob's famous breakfast tacos.
Kids enjoyed chocolate chip pancakes.

Our kids just loved being with Witt and Helen.... we can't wait to meet Hartzler Baby #3 in the Spring!
After one last race around the house, we got ready, packed up the car, and headed to a local apple orchard.

Took a tractor ride out to the fields.

And began our search for the perfect honeycrisp apples.

It was a GORGEOUS day. We couldn't have asked for better weather.

Thanks for capturing this picture, Sari!
Wish Tom and Simon hadn't been hidden in the trees :)

The tractor didn't have room to take us back, so we walked instead.

Found this cool tractor

Made it back to the entrance of the orchard where there was a corn stalk maze and hay bail maze.

Henry- trying to find the beginning of the maze :)

After letting the kids run off any remaining energy,
we purchased our loot of apples and said our sweet goodbyes/ thank yous to our dear friends.

Drove to Kansas City that night and got home around 3 pm on Monday.

We had a blast and are so glad we made the trek northward to get a taste of the Hartzler's life.
Can not wait til they move back to Texas!
We are so thankful for them and the rest of our UTSW gang.
They truly are lifelong friends.
