BRRRR- Stock Show!

On Saturday, we braved the freezing weather and went to the Fort Worth Stock Show.

Aside from the weather and the absence of a funnel cake (how did I leave without one?!?), it pretty much was the same experience as last year ... Henry was only interested in the big animals from a far...and since my hands were staying warm in my pockets, I don't have pics of them.

Go ahead and laugh at Henry's hat... my mom made it.

Thank goodness Margaret slept the whole time!.. not sure where I would have fed her :)

I snapped this pic while we were eating our "Cowboy Burrito" in one of the "barns"... I tried to ignore that they were shaving the animals 10 feet from my food.

Henry got to meet Troy Aikman in the Expo Hall.

Also got to check out the 4 wheelers....

... and the tractors.

So cozy and warm... unlike the rest of us.

Visit from Cousin Liam

Last weekend, my sister, Sarah, with Leif and Liam came to visit and meet Miss Margaret. It was great to spend some time with them and to play with adorable Liam.

Liam was so sweet with Margaret.

Margaret Gray's Humble Abode

There are still some things that need to be done, but here is what
Margaret calls home.
I sewed the crib skirt and curtains. My sister in law, Jenny, helped me sew the window valances, with assistance from Mary Pat.

PatPat made the pillows. Chair is from my mom- it's probably as old as me, and at one point my mom wanted to throw it away, but I insisted on keeping it... never thought I would put it in my daughter's nursery.

Painting by my great-grandmother, Margaret Gray.

Amy painted these letters... they match the bumper perfectly!

When the Cat's in Labor....

... the mouse will play!

So the version had just happened... I was so excited that Margaret had flipped... We were resting, when Tom showed me this email from his dad to the whole family:
"Henry and I went out on a little trip while we wait for Margaret. We wanted to do something special to surprise her."
And he attached this photo:
I thought to myself... "oh, he's just playing.... My father-in-law knows better..."
Then after Margaret was born, we received this email:
"Margaret is here- 8 lbs 1 oz- 20 inches. Tom said once Rebekah got busy it went quickly. Henry is sleeping but has a new fresh haircut and is ready to meet his sister.
I know Rebekah will be proud of me. "
And attached this picture:

My mouth dropped open and I couldn't close it for a good 5 minutes.... but I still thought that this was a prank... maybe he just staged this whole haircut thing.

After getting settled in the postpartum room, we received this email:
"As I write this Henry is on the way to see Margaret with his fresh new look."
along with these pictures:

He did it! He really took my son to get his hair cut without my permission!
Doesn't he know that I'm having a hard enough time dealing with the fact that Henry isn't my "baby" anymore... and now he has this big boy haircut!
Could he have taken any more unattractive pictures??
And why didn't he brush his bangs to the side before taking the last picture!??!

After talking to my father-in-law on the phone that afternoon, he told me that he "loved me dearly"... I forgave him and thanked him for the free hair cut.

Getting Settled

I first have to thank Liz for fixing my problem with uploading my pics... I was having issues and now I can continue blogging :)
Here's what's been going on with us... the abbreviated version:
Big brother and Little sister getting ready for their 1st night sleeping under the same roof

Margaret warming up after her 1st bath

Nice and cozy with Tom

1st doctor's visit

Hanging out

Henry asked to hold his sister... Looks like he is giving her a "noogie"

"Arg!" says Pirate Margaret

So sweet

After 4 days of sleeping in our room, Margaret got the boot to her crib... looks like she enjoys it!

Going for a walk

Tom found her like this one night... busted out of her swaddle.

The McAdams brought us dinner from them and the Warminskis... Thanks for the good food!
Tom is checking out Rocky's ugly winter sweater T-shirt.

Henry sucked Amy into reading his favorite book

On Sunday, Leah came to meet Margaret...

... so did Kristen.
It was great to see both friends!

That evening we went to the park...
Margaret got some sunshine.

And Henry got his 1st see-saw experience.

Reading to the kiddos before bedtime

Margaret had trouble paying attention.

On Tuesday, we went to the zoo with the Woods.
This pic marks a milestone... usually Henry is scared of this sculpture.

Ella and Rylie "guiding" Henry

Margaret slept the entire time

And Henry ate this whole apple... seeds and all.
(Liz also made me feel better- Apple seeds do not contain arsenic, but do contain cyanide)

Jenny- this pic is for you :)
We're getting along well!
Margaret is a good sleeper and eater and Henry is being a great big brother!
