Louis Beach 2009

Out of the 5 years we have gone to the beach with Tom's family, 3 of the years I've had to go without Tom... this was one of those years. :(
But I knew I couldn't miss out on a fun filled week with my in-laws and Henry would enjoy playing with all his Louis cousins.
Henry all ready to go! Too bad I didn't get a picture of the amazing packing job Walter did- it was quite the feat jamming in all of our stuff (Walter and Megan met Henry and me in Shreveport and rode down with us... The 9 hour drive wasn't too bad)
Here is the house in which we stayed... we needed all 8 bedrooms.

PawPaw was the first to take Henry out into the deep blue. Surprisingly, Henry didn't mind the ocean and liked pointing at and telling PawPaw all the new things he was seeing.

Evie loved the sand and was not successful in getting her older cousin to enjoy it with her. So Henry spent his time either on a towel or a chair reading books, snacking, and playing with his cars.

Each night, a different family prepares dinner.
We had some delicious food this year!

Louis Gang 2009- sans Tom

Jack was kind enough to be my house-husband for the week, so this is our family photo.

This picture would be a lot sweeter if Henry wasn't pushing me away!

Every year, there is 1 kid crying in the cousins' photo. Henry got the honor this year.
Sweet Addie was trying to console him, but once his bedtime hits, there is no stopping his crankiness.

(Speaking of bedtime, I was very thankful that he went to bed at 7 each night- gave me some down time... but I didn't really enjoy him waking up with the sun each morning at 6- his big head would pop up from the pack n play, stare at me, and say "Mumma" )

PatPat and PawPaw with their 10 grandkids.
(Henry continued to cry)

Every year Pirate PawPaw makes a treasure hunt for the grandkids. Each kid gets a clue and then has to go find their treasure

The grandkids with their treasures... Oh, look! Henry's crying again! (It was naptime- but he did enjoy the super cool duck and monkey book he got)

Henry- enjoying his last day on the beach.

It was a great trip... exhausting, stressful at times, but worth the precious time spent with family.

Mr. Liam finally arrives!

My sister, Sarah Margaret's little boy finally arrived on June 30th- 9 days late!

8 lbs 4 oz, 22 inches long.
Sarah Margaret is going to be such a great mom!
(Isn't this the sweetest picture?!?!?!)

We are so happy for her and her husband, Leif.
Can't wait to meet little Liam in a couple weeks!

Father's Day '09

Since Henry woke up with fever on Father's Day, we went to Shipley's Doughnuts instead of church. MMM... we love us some Shipley's doughnuts and kolaches!

Henry showing his dad the card he picked out for him... it had a dog on it, of course.

Tom got some stellar gifts :)
I gave Tom some bacon presses to use on the grill- he wants to make sure his hamburger patties stay flat... we'll see if it actually works.

And since Henry spilt milk on Tom's pillow, he picked out his dad a new one.

Later that afternoon, we went over to Tom's parents' house to enjoy a yummy steak dinner... too bad I forgot my camera :(

Tom is such a wonderful father and husband!

Arboretum

This week, Henry and I headed over to the Dallas Arboretum with our friends Desarae and Michael. Desarae packed us a yummy picnic lunch and we ate by the lake... hoping to get some breeze off the water.
Henry tried to protect us from this crazy squirrel that wanted our food.

Michael and Henry enjoying the water fall

It was such a HOT day- so we sought out another water feature. When these boys get older, we'll let them play it in.

By the end of the day- WORN OUT!

We really enjoyed hanging out with Desarae and Michael... we definitely want to go back with them... maybe we'll wait until the fall when it's cooler :)

Random Happenings...

A couple of weekends ago, we went to our sweet friend, Luke's 2 year old birthday party.
He looked great as a train conductor!

Henry really enjoyed playing with all of Luke's cars and trains.

Random Sunday getting ready for church.

Last Monday, we went over to Kristen's house for a play date with lots of friends.
Henry loved playing with his "Aunt" Amy.

Kristen's little girl, Ava, was asleep, so Amy held up their fancy video monitor so that Ava could be in the picture.

We were lucky enough to see the Burkharts, too. They came up for a quick visit.
Here are Jenny and our hostess, Kristen.
Last Tuesday, we went out to my grandparents' house to see them and my mom, sister, and nieces who had come in for the day.

Henry and Madeline getting in some kind of mischief.

That's about all.....

Hooray for Brinley Jane!

Our sweet friend, Brinely Jane McAdams, was born on June 10th weighing in at 8 lbs 8 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long.

Last night, we got to go meet her and visit with her parents, Amy and Rocky- who are doing really well.

Such a sweet little bundle!

Great Friends!

Amy will be such a wonderful mom!!!

It was awesome to finally meet little Miss B! Too bad her friend, Henry, was such a turkey in the hospital room... squealing and going berserk- hope it didn't scar her forever!

I couldn't take it anymore!

Henry's Hair!
What a mess!

So we booked it to a kid's hair cut place. (sorry PawPaw)
At first, Henry DID NOT like what was going on.

Then he started enjoying himself.
Wouldn't you if you got to sit in this awesome car!
(At one point, he was grabbed the wheel and said "MMM MMM"- his version of vroom, vroom)

A final buzz- she was nice enough to leave the sideburns alone.

Ta-Dah!
