Our plans had been to go to Shreveport to have Thanksgiving with my family.
All my siblings were planning on being there and we were also going to celebrate Christmas at the same time.
Well, Tom couldn't get off of work.
So Thanksgiving by ourselves.
I wanted to go ahead and make the whole spread for just us.
Figured it would be a good time to try my 1st turkey.
To go along with the turkey, we had butternut squash, spinach casserole, rolls, and dressing.
(Really sad I forgot the canned cranberry sauce- ha. my favorite!)
Pecan and Pumpkin Pies
We started our preparations a couple of days ahead of time.
(I major over documented this holiday!)
While MG and Simon were taking a nap,
Henry helped me make our pecan pie.
So Delicious!
The silly butternut squash took forever to roast. It turned out ok.
Margaret Gray and I made my great grandmother, Margaret Gray Rollins' pumpkin pie.
I undercooked it. Tasted good... funny consistency.
THANKSGIVING DAY
Took it easy that morning.
Watched Robin Hood.
MG put on a dance production for us.
watching some videos
These are the rolls Tom's Grandmother Louis always served.
He called several grocery stores to find them.

The turk
Craziness around the house while the turkey cooked
Henry's shirt from school... was supposed to wear it for his Thanksgiving performance at school... but we were gone to the Smokies.... whoops.
Set the table
Henry picked out these owls for me for my birthday.
Good thing, because I have no Thanksgiving decor.... really no holiday decor except Christmas.
Henry made the place cards
Family pictures on my birthday bench from Tom
Tom is a real trooper taking these pictures.
Henry was crying, not laughing.
Now Simon's turn to cry
MG got best behavior award
"Give me a sad look"
"Now surprised"
"Tongues out"
"Silliness"
Turkey's ready!
It turned out just ok.... edible.
You can imagine how much we had left over.
For the whole next week, that's all we had... sandwiches, chili, tetrazinni, pot pie....
Watching the rolls
It was a "quiet" evening... just us.
We have so much to be thankful for!!!
