Bluebonnets 2011

Last week we met some friends for dinner at Chick Fil A and then headed over to a field of bluebonnets to attempt some pics.

"And tell me again why I'm not in my bed yet."

Brinley, Audrey, and Margaret (who had snatched Brin's bunny)

All so happy.

Dinosaurs and Donuts

Back in February, we found out that our zoo was going to feature a Dinosaur exhibit.

Then they sent us a flyer in the mail, announcing Dinosaurs and Donuts, for members early one Saturday morning.

We marked our calender and Henry nervously awaited the big day. I figured the donuts would smooth out any fears Henry had.

His smile here tells how much he enjoyed his morning. He did great.

(Still got nervous when we passed the lions, though)

MG tried to share her donut with this guy.

But decided to finish it herself.

We finished off the morning with a free train ride. Allowed us a great view of the T-Rex.

Henry's Birthday

Yesterday, our sweet little guy turned 3!

We started out the day with waffles. Henry ate 4 of them.

He was so excited. Kept saying "It's MY birthday! It's MY birthday!"

Then we got ready for our family photo session.

(Tom is off right now)

(Some amazing friends had gotten together and gave me a session for my birthday, and we were just getting around to using it)

We went out to the arboretum and enjoyed a beautiful morning.

For lunch, Henry's pick was the fine food at the hospital.

He loves it when we get to eat with Tom at his work, so since we were close, Tom treated Henry to a yummy meal of Cheetos and chicken nuggets.

We didn't have a big party this year.

Henry's one request was a fire truck cake. I figured I could handle that along with a dinner with family.

After watching a You Tube "How-To", I constructed this masterpiece :)

I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out, so I was very pleased with myself.

I kept it a secret from Henry, until we sang to him after dinner.

PatPat and PawPaw joined us for hot dogs... per Henry's request. We had a little pre-dinner festivites of grilling, sliding, and rolling golf balls down the slide. Fancy.

And we enjoyed a pleasant dinner outside, complete with Sonic drinks, corn on the cob, fruit, chips, and sweet potato fries. The Woods joined us after cousin Ella's soccer game for cake, Peppermint ice cream (Henry's fav), and present time.

(evidently, size 3+ bike helmet isn't made for Henry's mellon)

It was a wonderful day. Thank you for the calls, messages, texts, cards, and gifts. Henry really felt special!

Chuck E Cheese

The kids got their 1st taste of Chuck E Cheese this week. I feel like this is a big milestone in their childhood.

We went for Henry's friend's birthday party. (Megan- it was on your birthday... Henry kept asking if you were going to be there :) )

Birthday boy Ben. He and Henry are in the same Sunday school and BSF class.

Kids had a great time- good party place!

Opening Day 2011

Opening Day festivities started early this year.

PawPaw started the tailgate around 8ish. We arrived at 10, and luckily there was still some pancakes available on the grill.

We were lucky to have the Whiteside and the New Orleans' Louis families in attendance this year... along with about 20 other people.

Alice, Evie, and Margaret enjoyed fingerplay time with PatPat

Evie and Henry munching on donuts

Kate, PatPat, Jenny, me, and Mary Pat

Rousing game of knockout

Margaret found dessert and poked her fingers in 3 pineapple empanadas

PawPaw presented prizes to some lucky attendees

Game time wasn't until 3 this year.

Around 2, we headed up to the ballpark.

MG fell asleep on the trek up to the ballpark, only to be awaken by some excited fans.

The kids were troopers.

Before the game even started, Henry was asking to go home and take a nap.

Margaret would act like she was going to fall asleep, then get really restless.

Let's just say that we didn't spend the whole game in our seats.

Walking down the really long ramp to the 1st floor (3 times and riding the escalator back up to the 3rd deck) provided some entertainment.

Food also served as a distraction.

Have I mentioned how incredibly H.O.T. it was sitting in the blazing sun?!?!

Great game. Rangers won. We all left happy.
Margaret fell asleep again on the way back to the car.

But woke up to enjoy some more cousin play time back at the tailgate site.

Family pic 2008- I know I've posted this pic before- gets me every time. whoa.

No wonder my shirt fits funny.

I wanted to get a pic of the whole family before we left.

I set the camera up on the trailer.

Ran.

Noticed Alice was just standing there.

Tried to pick her up.

Retake.

Ummm.. I think it was around 7.

Henry was pretending to snore.

Since we hadn't had dinner, we picked some up and joined the rest of the family at PawPaw and PatPat's.

Got home around 9:45.

I had been nervous about the kids not getting naps. It worked out, though.

We had a great time.

Go Rangers.
