Piggie Party

After Margaret's 1st birthday party, I swore off parties.... cleaning my house is hard enough, much less having a party here.
Well, call me a sucker, but I couldn't help but invite some friends over and celebrate her birth.

She and "Piggie" are inseparable, so we gave her a Piggie Party.

I had this "great" idea of having the kids finger paint with mud (chocolate pudding)...

... but instead they used Cocoa Pebbles/glue for their pig picture.... much cleaner.

Then we had pig races (in honor of our love for the Texas State Fair), complete with blue ribbons for the kids.
Had to get on the pig noses
(camera was on a weird setting so most of the pics stink)

I meant to group the kids by age/ sex and have the races that way, but instead it was a free-for-all, and the kids had a blast.
I have a video, but I'm having trouble uploading videos these days.

After the races, we played Pin the Nose on the Piggie.
Henry gave a little help to the honoree.
Her messy hair went right along with the theme :)

Piggie Pie for everyone!

And dessert...
(Thanks, Amy, for the idea)
Dirt... Mud... you get the idea...

Singing Happy Birthday

Opening Presents

(That's MG inside the bag)
It was a great party!!
(MG had a wardrobe change cause we may or may not have forgotten to change her diaper and she may or may not have left a wet spot on one of the guest's laps... cut me some slack... ha!)

One last picture of Simon and his little friend, Hudson Barker.... 4 days apart :)

2 years of Margaret Gray

Our sweet Margaret Gray turned 2 on January 7th!
We celebrated with a Piggie Party and I took these pictures for decoration. I didn't think I got any good ones, but after looking back on them, I think they're pretty adorable. :)
Here are some random facts I want to remember about our little girl:

- Continues to be a go-getter. Very determined... good problem solver... also very stubborn. :)
- Loves to take a bath and brush her own teeth ("teefies")
- Knows her colors, can count to 12, and can sing the alphabet. Tries to spell her name, but it's more of "M-A-E-T... Margaret!" or "H-N-Y... Margaret!"
We're going to start working on letters... I've dropped the ball on that one.
- Not the best at sharing.
-Excellent snuggler.
- Tall. Very tall... haven't had her 2 year well visit, but she sports 3T pants.
- Favorite song- "Twinkle, Twinkle" She has surprised me with how much she likes to sing... for a while there I thought she was going to be anti-music.
- Favorite breakfast- oatmeal
-Favorite color- pink
- Least favorite meal- lunch... it's always a hit or miss what she wants to eat at this meal.
-Favorite show- Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, but we don't get to watch it anymore seeing as we have lost our cable.
But has discovered The Backyardigans. Also loves Elmo.
- LOVES animals! Especially dogs, cats, and horses. But has recently described lions and tigers as "scary".
- LOVES stuffed animals, purses, baby dolls, and puzzles.
- Wants to dress her piggie and her baby dolls in her clothes and put her diapers on them... but gets frustrated when they fall off.
-Doesn't mind getting dirty.
- Naps between 2-3 hours. Bedtime between 7:30- 8, wakes between 7-8.
-Is interested in the potty... I'm ignoring that and will probably be kicking myself if I'm missing the window of opportunity on that one.
- A daddy's girl.
- Still enjoys putting random toys in her shopping cart and stroller and pushing them around the house.
- Loves to read....keeps it "light" though, not into really long books.
- Loves Henry- wants to do and say anything he does. Is also really good at antagonizing him.
- Great big sister to Baby Simon ("Tymon") Loves holding him and giving him kisses.
Has been a trooper since he's been born. Hopefully she's not holding it against us that she rarely gets her diaper changed, hair brushed, nails cut, and wears mismatched clothes these days.
- Pretends to talk to PatPat and MiMi on the phone
-Quite the talker.
Has several articulation problems, but I can usually figure out what she's saying.
I love having conversations with her and is always surprised at what she remembers.
- Favorite phrases:
"What's that noise?"
"Henry! Come here, Henry!"
"Don't like it"
(I know there's more, just can't think of them right now)

I'll stop there.... probably should go to bed.

We love you, sunshine!!! Happy 2nd Birthday, Mosey Gray!

A Very Louis Christmas

As much as I missed seeing all of my family this Christmas, I must admit it was nice not traveling this holiday.
We were able to see lots of Tom's family.... and I like them, so that's a good thing :)

Christmas Eve we attended Tom's parent's church.

Cousins L-R
Alice, Evie, Thomas, Ella, and my kids

The service was nice.... my 2 older kids made it interesting.
During the children's sermon, MG decided to stand up and pull up her dress.
She also had to be removed from the service, twice, for talking too loud and then crying cause we told her to pipe down.
HOT candle wax dropped on Henry's hand and he shrilled/ screamed bloody murder. Felt like Parent of the Year.
Tom was paged twice and went to read some studies in the car.
Simon did great... slept.
After the service, we ate dinner over at Kate's.
Trying to capture memories here, Margaret.
Evie is going to be a pro when her baby sister arrives in January!
Changed the kids into their PJs and they watched Polar Express in bed.
A special Christmas Eve....

Christmas Morning
Henry loved his fire station... even though he noticed that the police motorcycle was missing. Luckily, Tom had placed a missing parts order and it has since come in the mail... and now Henry doesn't ask for it every day.
Margaret loves her kitchen. Like how she's serving the fruit snacks that came in her stocking?
My grandfather gave Margaret this reindeer dog and the kids love it.

Tom was happy to receive his sweater from my grandfather... not as good as last year's or the year before.
Kids are really into silly pictures.

That afternoon, we ate lunch over at Kate's and PatPat hosted a birthday party for our Savior.

That night we ate breakfast for dinner over at PatPat and PawPaw's.
The kids reenacted the Christmas story.
Sweet shepherd girl
The shepherds listening to the angel
Mary receives the Christ child... Shepherd Alice was not happy about that :)

PawPaw started a tradition years ago that if you were at their house on Christmas, you get extra gifts.
Rangers gifts for everyone. Moms got socks, Dads got hats, and kids got Cliff Lee tshirts- PawPaw was happy that they were "2 dolla!"

The next day, Jack and Leigh, and Walter, Megan, Jackson, and Dillan (who we hadn't seen in a year!) joined the Louis Christmas.
Margaret loved Leigh's new dog, Bug.
And we exchanged gifts.
Really wished I had Henry on video opening his new Josh Hamilton tee, batting gloves, and baseball pants. I have never seen someone so excited.
Jackson got some new tools and the kids had a blast hammering golf tees into styrofoam.
Simon slept the whole time :)
Love, love this picture
(Tom made his family jealous by wearing his sweater again)

The next day we enjoyed a morning at the Arboretum.

Excited about the new kids' area.
Unfortunately, Walter got a flat tire on the way back home.

Finally, Ross, Jenny, Gabe, Arden, and Isabelle arrived in Texas.
We went over to Tom's aunt and uncle's for lunch and enjoyed our time as a huge family.

Jenny, Simon, and Leigh

Love these girls!

It was a great Christmas! Love that we got to spend it with so many loved ones... especially Simon :)
