Oh what a night...

My dear friend from elementary school, Virginia, and I got to experience the most awesome night of our lives on Sunday night. (warning- this post is pretty ridiculous. you have to understand that we immediately got thrown back to 1990 and we were transformed into 10 year old girls)

We were ready!
And it began... hearts began to race...voices began to squeal... hands were in the air

Some footage of the old days... feeling faint...
Singin' and Dancin' ... whew- they've still got it

The boys came out to perform on a stage in the middle of the crowd... to get a little closer to us, of course. Virginia and I tried to remember what they sang while they were out there, and we couldn't... we were just so caught up in the moment.

This random girl was dancing on the piano- I kept waiting for her to sing- thinking that's why she was there. Nope- she was just there.

Ode to my fav- Jordan Knight
The pic above does not give the moment justice. Jordan's shirt was blowing in the wind while he sang... and my knees went weak.

Virginia's fav... Donnie Wahlberg

I guess all good things have to come to an end

We got these awesome t-shirts after the concert. We thought that if we wore them, Donnie and Jordan would come claim us.While walking to the car, we noticed a crowd of "girls" looking down to the loading dock waiting for the boys to load their tour buses. It was midnight, we had nothing else to do, so we decided to join them. When Joe (in the khaki pants and black top) came out, we gave him a shout out and he looked at Virginia and waved!
Her heart melted.
Then he went back "under" (I guess the AAC has an underground loading place).
About 20 mins later a bus came from underground and we could see the Kids standing in the front window waving. "Girls" were screaming and waving...I wish you could have seen how fast 30 year old women ran to chase after the bus... and we thought we were crazy...

It was everything I expected and more... I am so glad that Virginia came up here to go with me... it was a blast! She is such a good friend!
And I like to give a shout out to my sisters, Elizabeth and Sarah Margaret, who were unable to attend with us. May the dance moves we learned, the lyrics we sang, the BOP magazines we read, and the club house we made always be in our hearts :)

Sweet Potatoes

Yesterday, Henry was introduced to his first vegetable.

So, I've decided to give homemade baby food a try... not that I'm worried about what's put into store bought baby food or that I'm "granola", but it will give me something to do...a sense of accomplishment... now that I think about it.... I guess for selfish reasons.

6 months Doctor Visit

Length- 28 inches
Weight- 19.05 lbs
This was a bad idea (to put him on his stomach)- Henry kept grabbing the paper and pulling it to his mouth. Do you know how loud the paper sounds in a quiet doctor's office? And when I picked him up, the paper came too. I was pretty embarrassed when the nurse came back in and the paper was all disheveled.

Texas State Fair

On Sunday, we went to the fair with the Burkarts, McAdams, and Warminskis. Every year we look forward to the fair... the cool air, Big Tex, the butter statue. (http://www.bigtex.com/) Our favorite part- Fletcher's Corny Dogs! Delicious!
In honor of the Corny Dog, I made Henry a Corny Dog Onesie... I was quite proud of my Martha Stewart moment. (even though the "stick" came unglued)

Family Pic- Henry eyeing my corn dog.
Yep- hand right in the ketchup.
Tom trying to keep the ketchup from getting all over us.
Meagan saved the day with wipes.

Thanks Amy for documenting this fiasco!

All tuckered out.

The fair has the most amazing, high calorie foods you can imagine.
Some of the foods we enjoyed:

Roasted Corn
Corn dog, of course.
Chicken Fried Bacon
Texas Tator Twisters
Other foods enjoyed- sausage on a stick, caramel apples, and fried s'more. Pretty upset that I forgot to get a funnel cake.

Every year we have to go find Boris the Pig. (This was actually Boris the 3rd... Not quite sure what happened to the 1st 2 Borises....chicken fried bacon?? ) He weighed 1212 lbs! For the sake of posting this pic on the blog, I told Tom to keep the pic G-rated.... for those who have seen him, you know what I mean.

Family Photos

I love to ride rides. But in my wise old age, I guess I have come to the realization that they aren't exactly safe.... and I guess I do have a child to take care of....

Another favorite part of the fair is the Car Show. We like to look at cars we can't afford... who doesn't??
Henry with his uncle, Walter. (We met up with Walter and Megan at the Car Show)
Tom showing Henry how much head room was in this car... a very important feature for a Louis man.
The UTSW Gang (minus Rob and Sari- we missed you guys!)Sisters-in-laws

Food, Folks, and Fun

Our good friends from med school spent a lot of time together this weekend since the Burkharts came up from Austin.

Friday night- good, I mean great BBQ at our favorite local restaurant- David's.

The boys going to smoke their celebratory cigars- Jenny and Zack are expecting in April!

Saturday morning, we headed over to the McAdams to watch the Texas vs OU game.

Docs watching the game
Henry having some man-time with Dad.
Henry flirting with the girls- Amy, Kristen, and Jenny.
Boys playing Wii during halftime.

Henry attacking our hostess, Amy.

Tah-Dah!

What's so special about this photo?

It shows his first 2 teeth.

And this is funny face he makes when I try to touch them.

Some Louis Family History

This weekend, some of the Louis clan met in Austin.
Why Austin? Because when Tom Louis, "my" Tom's great grandfather, immigrated from Lebanon to the U.S., Austin is where he made his home (and a lot of Tom's family still lives there). In fact, his real name was not Tom Louis. Because the immigration office could not pronounce his name,Tom Louis is the name they gave him.
This is a picture of his store in Austin.

I didn't do a very good job of documenting the weekend, but here are several pics that I did take.
Dinner on Friday night.
On Saturday morning, some of us went to visit two of Tom's great uncles, Joe and Paul.
Here is Henry with Uncle Joe.

A few of the Louis men.. many were not there.
Quick lunch at Chick-Fil-A with Evie.
Henry with his Great Aunt Sarah and 2nd cousin, Emma.
Tom's brother Walter, cousins- Anna and Laura, and Uncle Alex.
We had dinner catered to the hotel's lobby. I didn't want to have to go and sit in the hotel room while Henry slept. So what did I do? I put him on the floor in the hotel's conference room, of course. For safety reasons, I opened the blinds so I could see in.
